The children have been amazed about how magical our woods look lately, covered by a ‘purple carpet’ made out of bluebells.
The children in Oak class have enjoyed the sunny walks in the woods, using their senses to listen to different sounds and smell the bluebells. They have talked about what plants need in order to grow – light and water. The children have also put their Creative Connie hats on when painting bluebells and during observations drawings.
Children in Acorn class have loved exploring the bluebells’ colour and smell. We also talked about walking carefully to not step on these beautiful flowers. We have used our fine motor skills when creating woodland bluebell gardens, using pipe cleaners and wood blocks. The children also extended their imaginative play by creating fairy gardens and magic wands. Acorn children have learned a new song called “In and out the dusky bluebells” that we will all sing together on our next Forest School session!
