The second part of the Bullard House Music competition took place this week with the Whole School in attendance, including our Pre-Prep Early Years children, as young as 2 years old! Three categories were presented to the Houses this year, with the Prep School children tackling songs of the 90s and songs from the Musicals. The Pre-Prep children took on the Disney song category.
Wrens opened with their version of I’ll Be There For You by the Rembrandts, followed by the attitude-filled performance of Wonderwall by Oasis. Next up were the Hawks with their version of the Baywatch theme tune. The audience were treated to Mr Forsey’s dance moves as well as the great sense of enjoyment from the children. The 90s section was wrapped up by the Crows’ performance of Black or White by Michael Jackson.
Pre-Prep performed beautifully for the Bullard cup lead ably by their house teachers. The children certainly won the cute factor but also their confidence in front of such a large audience was fabulous and we were all immensely proud of them.
The Wrens began by singing Beauty and the Beast which brought a tear to the eye. There are clearly some fabulous singers developing in this house!
Wrens were followed by the Owls with Under the Sea. Wow, what an enthusiastic and well sung performance.
Third to the stage were the Hawks with the Bare Necessities, ably accompanied by Mrs Banks on the Saxophone. This performance made you want to sing along with them! The final performance from Pre-Prep came from the Crows team who opted to sing a Capella! Fabulous actions too!
All of the Pre-Prep children did an amazing job with the final Pre-Prep scores being Wrens 1st, Owls 2nd and Hawks and Crows 3rd.
The final section was the songs from the Musicals and the Wrens opened up with a wonderful performance of the challenging song, Revolting Children from Matilda. The Owls then performed Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat. Hawks then took to the stage to perform In The Jungle from The Lion King, which included some impressive solo parts. The Crows wrapped up the afternoon’s performances with their version of We Go Together from Grease.
Our judges this year were Mr Rob White, Assistant Director of Music from Langley Senior School and David Stowell, a local composer and conductor who also teaches Brass. The children waited in suspense until the scores were read out. Owls in 4th only one point behind the Wrens in 3rd. 2nd place was awarded to Crows, and huge congratulations to the Hawks who won this section of the Bullard Cup. After working out the scores of the two competitions this year we were able to conclude that the Crows just managed to hold on to the Bullard Cup this year following a very strong 1st part and very close 2nd placing in the singing this week.
Well done Crows!
