School Fete

A wonderful afternoon full off fun and entertainment was the result of the annual fete organised by the Friends of Taverham Hall School on the 28th of May.

Many pupils and their parents attended this sunny afternoon and lots of fun was had with the Egg Throwing & Catching competition, the Coconuts, Tattoos, Wet Sponge Throwing as well as taking part in the raffle and sampling some lovely ice cream. Read the rest of this entry »

Year 1 Find Wilberforce’s Treasure

Excitement was in the air for Year 1 children this week.

A St Bernard dog called Wilberforce, who is their classroom mascot, received a treasure map and instructions in ‘pirate writing’ in a bottle that had been washed ashore at Sea Palling. Read the rest of this entry »

Roaring Tigers!

Outside the children helped to make a musical washing line where they picked their favourite musical instruments to create some beautiful sounds and songs.

One day we went out for a walk and found some very scary noisy tigers who had escaped from the zoo, luckily the children where very brave and we tracked them down in the woods, looking for their paw prints and signs. Read the rest of this entry »

Hands on the Past

This week children at Taverham Hall School were transported back to the dark days of 17th century London when plague and fire ravaged the capital.

The HANDS ON THE PAST Company are regular visitors to the school and they gave the children an exciting journey back in time where they met refugees from the fire, a friend of Samuel Pepys, a court musician, a shopkeeper and a trader with all the new foods and fashions from the time. Waste Audit

This week our Year 6 pupils undertook a waste audit at Taverham Hall School.

They gathered all of the rubbish, recycling and compost from the school bins and had a look at what we throw away. They sorted all our rubbish into categories and weighed it to see how much recyclable or compostable material we throw away. Read the rest of this entry »

Swimming Gala vs Beeston

The annual swimming gala vs Beeston took place at Taverham Hall School.

All children showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship during this exciting afternoon with the lead changing hands throughout the competition.

The match decider went down to the last relay where Beeston nipped in just in front of Taverham – this meant that the overall result was a draw at 88-88. Read the rest of this entry »

Athletics Tournament at Gresham’s

Boys and girls from Taverham Hall School competed at the annual 8 School Athletic Tournament at Gresham’s school. 

There were numerous personal bests throughout the day and individual wins for Robert Goldsmith in the discus and Jack van Poortvliet in the long jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Tennis Hobby

The new Tennis Academy Hobby undertaken by coaches from The Norfolk Health & Racquets Club on a Monday afternoon is extremely popular with boys and girls from Year 1 upwards taking part.

The structure of this programme enables players to progress from mini tennis to full ball and provides the opportunity for players to reach their full potential within the game.
