Friends' News
The new school year is upon us, and we would like to take this
opportunity to report on Friends' events from last year:
- The Quiz and Chips night was a great success and a lot of fun was had by all.
We raised £ 641.75.
- The Wine Tasting evening was a new event. It was held in the Drawing room
and those who attended were given a tasting of various wines and a delicious
meal to accompany them. It was a well supported event and a merry one as
well! It raised £ 256.43.
- The Disco for the Pre-Prep and Prep children took place in April. This is funded
by the Friends’ and is always very popular with the children.
- The Bags2Schools collection raised £ 348. This was an ideal way to get rid of
unwanted clothes, or any that the children had grown out of.
- The Summer Fete raised over £1000. We were so lucky as the sun shone and we
would like to thank again all the parents who attended or contributed to make
this such a wonderful event.
We also raised £ 274.00 for EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) with the
Penny Line at the end of the Summer term.
- As a result of this fundraising the Friends’ were able to donate £4000 to the
school to help purchase a mobile stage for productions, events and musical
evenings.
Now some dates for your diaries for this term:
- Bags2 School Collection - Thursday 16th October. Shoes, bedding, curtains, soft
toys, belts and handbags can also be donated so please save them for this
collection.
- Bonfire night - Thursday 6th November. Details to follow.
- Quiz & Chips and AGM - Friday 14th November 7.00pm in the Dining
Hall.
This is a very popular event and you will need to book early if you want to
attend.
Finally, please note that we have vacancies on the Friends’ Committee and are looking for active,
enthusiastic parents to offer their services. From the outside, people assume
that it takes up a lot of time and is quite involved. This is not the case: the
stronger the committee, the more evenly the workload is shared. Each term
one or two committee meetings are held to organise and finalise the Friends’
events for the term. The success of future events is dependant on you
volunteering.
Please, Please, Please - fill in the form attached and place in
the Friends' box if you are interested, or pick up the phone and speak to our
Secretary, Linda Thursby, on 07788 456456 to discuss how you may be able
to help or if you have any queries.
