An audience of performers, parents, teachers and friends was held spellbound yet again by the variety of skills, enjoyment in music, inspired teaching and the enthusiasm instilled into the pupils in their singing and playing by the members of the music department.
The evening began with a short welcome to the John Innes Centre by the Headmaster, followed by a brief address from Mr. David Kidd who informed parents and children of the IAPS orchestra courses offered to all levels of musician.
Immediately the music began with the Big Band made up of pupils, their teachers and members of staff. Every contribution to the evening is to be congratulated, but special mentions must go to the Junior Choir who have flourished under Mr. Dodd’s guidance: their own carol in “The Light inside the Stable” at Christmas; a recording with Radio Broadland and, this evening, their first public performance in two parts. In addition, the newly-founded African Drumming classes must be thoroughly thanked for ending the evening with a thrilling boom and bang.
Extra thanks to last-minute understudies: Charlotte Godfrey standing in for injured Courtney and Mr. Dodd’s for Serena. Many, many congratulations to all concerned.
