Monday of Science Week saw the first of the eggs in the Reception class hatching. The Reception children had been counting the days and constantly checking the eggs through the sides of the incubator, never had three weeks seemed so long a time!

Five chicks had hatched by the end of the first day, and they were followed by three more the next day. After a few hours in the incubator the chicks were put in the brooder. The children were then able to observe the chicks closely and have been fascinated watching them grow. They have been holding them, writing and drawing them, talking to them and giving them names. Our thanks go to Mr. Rainey for providing the eggs and for giving the chicks a home at the end of term.
