As part of their personal, social and emotional development curriculum the Reception children visited St. Edmunds Church in Taverham. Both classes travelled in the school mini-bus to visit the church situated in the heart of Taverham village. The children had been learning about the features of a church, both internal and external, and they were delighted to be able to recognise and name some of these features.

After meeting the vicar they explored the church, climbing into the pulpit, reading from the lectern and even ringing the bells. They were able to pick out the four angels, the dove and the lilies that feature in the stain glass window above the high alter and were also interested in the various carvings in the choir stalls.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and it generated a lot of lively discussion back in class.
