Year 5 pupils experienced a monk's day set in the magnificent Cathedral at Ely, dressed in monks' habits and praying constantly throughout the day.
As a conclusion to their History topic of the Celts Year 3 children visited the reconstructed Iceni village at Cockley Cley.
French departments staff took 38 Taverham Hall pupils, 5 South African exchange partners and 3 accompanying parents to France for 4 days packed with fun and opportunities to practise French in real-life situations.
Every summer we look forward to the Club’s interpretation of the latest disco songs and this term was no exception. Mrs Chamberlin’s Dance Club rose to the occasion and produced a most enjoyable display of individual and group dances.
Our Nursery children walked over half a mile through the school’s woods in aid of Barnardo’s. Parents and pupils enjoyed a picnic lunch after their ramble.
There certainly were big surprises in store at Taverham Hall School on Sunday 15th June when the school opened their magnificent grounds to the public for a massive Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Some of the Year 2 children have been studying hard to gain a certificate for competence in First Aid . The course was devised by the St. John Ambulance to give children the knowledge and confidence to deal with emergency situations.
Our Year Eight leavers went on their annual pilgrimage to Hilltop at Sheringham to spend three days using the outward-bound facilities on offer.
The school Sports Day was held in good weather. Every child in the school performed well in order to gain points for their house.
The sun shone and great fun was had by all at the Pre-Prep sports day. Spectators were treated to a great display of teamwork by both year one and year two in their events, which opened the proceedings of the afternoon.
The whole of the Prep school was treated to a day of history brought to life by the 'Hands on the Past' troupe. The theme for the day was Norfolk in the time of the Celts and the Romans, so the children were transported back in time almost two thousand years!
All the children in the Pre Prep took part in the annual Swimming Gala. After the events parents and children enjoyed delicious home made cakes baked by two Taverham mums, and a very generous £205.70 was raised to support a young victim of the Burma earthquake.
Kate came to show us a Giant African Land Snail called Speedy, a fast hissing cockroach from Madagascar, a Golden Knee Tarantula from the desert of Peru, and a Giant African Millipede. It was a fun and very informative day.
Both Reception classes travelled in the school mini bus to visit the church, learning about what a church building is made from and what lies inside. Taverham church is nearly a thousand years old!

Six Taverham Hall girls and several mums took part in the annual ‘Race for Life’ at the Norwich Showground. A hot morning did not deter the girls, namely Helena, Nancy, Charlotte, Victoria, Sacha and Harriet, who, together with their mums and others (a group of 17 in total) ran, jogged and/or walked the five kilometre course.
An audience of performers, parents, teachers and friends was yet again held spellbound by the variety of skills, enjoyment in music, inspired teaching and the enthusiasm instilled into the pupils in their singing and playing by the members of the music department.
Being a true Scot, our Marathon man is very aware that donations made online via the www.justgiving.com/rosshamilton website automatically draw a tax rebate under the Gift Aid system: every pound we taxpayers give is actually woth £1.28 to the Hospice.
He is nevertheless very happy to continue to receive donations in person at the school!
The school library is the focal point of the CLIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals competition, wherein a keen group of readers who are ‘shadowing’ these awards will read the shortlisted books and post comments and reviews on the awards website, and record their favourites.
Canoeing is back on the agenda at Taverham Hall: The Canoe Man is running courses for us on the neighbouring Wensum on Tuesday evenings through this summer term.
This annual event is eagerly anticipated by all the children; the excitement mounted through the day until at last (well, half-past three, really) the children were able to change into their disco outfits! One suspects that many of the boys had put just as much carefull planning into looking cool as the girls had, if not more. Mirrors were in great demand, as accessories and hairstyles were checked.
Children from Year 1 went looking for different kinds of plants and vegetation that provide the habitats for mini-creatures in the woods and grounds as part of their investigations into Science classes.
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 were treated to a French extravaganza today: Mlle. Menegaz had invited the European Theatre Company to the school to perform their current play “Cendrine Bio”.

On the last morning of the Easter term the Easter bunny visited the Pre-Prep. As it had been raining he came inside very quietly and hid lots of brightly coloured eggs in the corridors and library. There was great excitement as the children hunted and found the eggs, as you can see in these pictures.
Nursery and Pre-Prep parents were treated to a dance display by their children; a culmination of the children’s work over the past term.
Children in the Prep School enjoyed a lively presentation from two members of the Norfolk Lowland Search & Rescue (NORLSAR) Team before Prayers.

An enjoyable afternoon was spent by parents and children in the Nursery - all involved in producing an abundance of Easter creations.
Children in years 7 and 8 were very fortunate to be given a lively and very
informative talk about the Forensic Techniques used in the investigation
of serious crimes by Julian Revitt-Smith, the Senior Crime Scene Investigator
for Norfolk Constabulary.
Years 5 & 6 headed off to the Theatre Royal to see the Birmingham Stage Company's new production of one of Roald Dahl's best-loved books.

Our two Reception classes went to Easton College as part of their Farming topic. They
went on a long walk all around the farm accompanied by a member of staff who told the
children all about the farm and its animals.
Broadland's Thunder team recorded our Junior choir singing “The Giant’s Garden" for
“The Big School Sing up” on Radio Broadland. “Sing Up” is the Music Manifesto’s National Singing Programme.
Our team of Cameron (Captain), Morgan, Aadam and Callum led from the off and their sharpness on the
buzzer brought them home by 490 points to 270. Adam scored highest with seventeen correct answers,
but every member of the team played his part.
Having won her regional heat in November, Francesca went on to be highly commended in the Junior section of National Finals of the Prayer Book Society’s Cranmer Awards in Westminster.
These Awards introduce young people to the Book of Common Prayer and offer them the opportunity to get to grips with Archbishop Thomas Cranmer's most enduring work.
The Norwich Junior School Cross Country League was hosted in the grand
surroundings of Taverham Hall School for the 10th year that Taverham Hall
and Taverham Junior have worked together to organise this league meeting.
A new ‘Walking for Health’ project in Taverham and Drayton organised a special walk from the library to the school, around the lovely grounds, and back again. The staff at Taverham Library then provided a welcome cup of coffee and chance to sit down after the walk to many of the walkers.
45 children from Bawburgh School and Reepham Primary School attended a sports and fitness morning here at Taverham Hall School.

The Shakespeare 4 Kidz theatre troupe provide easy-to-understands musical adaptations of Shakespeare's plays, bringing them to life and helping even very young children to form a real understanding of his work.

Four performances of our own celebration of Christmas took place during the last week of term. It featured the Chapel Choir singing on the staircase, complemented by readings, poetry, and dance from Year 5 and 6 children, and included the Junior Choir playing their part in the proceedings.
We understand that a certain Mr. Cowell is still kicking himself for having missed the nursery spectacular....
Children get into the Christmas spirit and have fun making Christmas trees from fir cones, sparkling Christmas cards and decorative festive biscuits.
The School Choir took part in a Christmas Carol Service held at The Church of St Peter Mancroft, Norwich. The congregation were also treated to Readings by Susie Fowler-Watt, Kim Riley and Stewart White (all of BBC's "Look East"), an Address by the Rev. Nigel Kinsella, and music from the Pattesley singers, the Hellesdon & Sprowston Brass Band.
All the children in the Pre-Prep were involved in putting on a great performance of the play "Mother Christmas’ Journey" - an extravaganza of colourful singing and dancing celebrating the Nativity around the world.
The After School Fun Dance Club put on their annual Christmas spectacular for an audience
of family and friends.
Five members of Year 8 took part in the annual Cranmer Awards at Castle Rising. Held by the Norfolk branch of the Prayer Book Society, the event was again judged by Anne Robinson.

Great Yarmouth as part of their History studies.

Coffee Morning, raising over six hundred pounds for the Macmillan Cancer Charity.

Both the Colts ‘A’ and the Under-11Girls have got off to a good start to the current season.
Mme. Menegaz inspired the School's celebration the rich diversity of languages to be found across modern Europe with a series of activities including puzzles, exciting lunches, and the showing of a classic Asterix the Gaul film.
Today we recognise a new selection of children for the special efforts they have been making over the last week or so.

The sun shone brightly for us on a wonderful Fathers' Day; everyone enjoyed a wide range of activities or just relaxed and appreciated the beautiful setting.
Rained-off after a successful morning, but nonetheless another excellent performance by the School's athletes.
