LPS@TH U11Cs v Norwich School U11Cs

LPS@TH 35 for 4 after 20 overs. Norwich School 36 for 3.  Norwich School win by 7 wickets.

This match was a low scoring affair. We batted first, with the hope of setting a good target. Unfortunately this did not happen, through a combination of defensive batting and good bowling from the opposition we failed up our run rate. When bowling, we started well. After 10 overs we had managed to keep Norwich to just 20 runs. Oliver H-G, Sam C and Archie S each taking a wicket. However, we lost little bit of composure in the remaining overs and Norwich quickly overtook our total to win the match.

LPS@TH U11Ds (247 Runs) v Norwich School U11Ds (316 Runs)

LPS@TH’s U11D team played an away fixture against Norwich School at the Redmayne fields. The weather was perfect for cricket with the sun shining all afternoon to the delight of both home and away support. After unavoidable disruption to the squad only 8 of the LPS@TH squad were able to travel. Huge thanks to the two Norwich School boys Oscar and Harry who agreed to play the whole match for LPS@TH. Both showed true sportsmanship and performed
admirably in all aspects of the game.

Playing the ‘Pairs’ format of the game, captain Hugo G opted to bat first, amassing a total of 247 runs from 20 overs. Norwich School impressed with their bowling taking 8 wickets and bowling just 18 wides and no balls during the period. With Norwich School taking their turn in bat (chasing 247) LPS@TH boys managed to take four wickets (2 caught in the field by both Hugo G and Callan W). In the end though Norwich School proved too strong with an accomplished batting performance. At the end of play it was Norwich School that finished ahead by 69 runs with a total of 316, with both sides playing some very good cricket which was very much appreciated by all those that had turned out in support.

The Man of the Match award was shared by Aaron S and Joshua B whose combined figures for batting and bowling contributed favourably to a great all round team effort on the day.

Congratulations to all those that participated on the day, representing the School admirably with their efforts both on and off the field. Captain Hugo G asked that the whole squad be acknowledged and thanked for the support they gave him in his leadership role and a special mention of thanks to Oscar and Harry for their sporting gesture. Mr Steed would like to thank Hugo for demonstrating fantastic leadership qualities throughout the day in what was a very mature captain’s performance.

Squad: Rahin S, Joshua B, Oliver D, Radley S, Aaron S, Harry (N), Charlie M, Callan W, Hugo G, Oscar (N).

U11A v Norwich School
LP@TH 127 for 5 Norwich 102 for 6. LP AT TH win by 25 runs

Our U11A won the toss and chose to bat against Norwich school. We lost Alex M and Reilly B early on but a very patient and well-structured innings from Daniel G, who ended up on 35, kept the inning on track. He was well-supported by Archie C who hit 24 off 25 balls and Bertie C who scored 17 off 19 balls. Lennon T scored 7 not out to give us a total of 127 for 5 off our 25 overs.
Daniel G took 2 wickets in his first over just as Norwich looked to take the game away from us. Oliver W took a wicket with his last ball of his spell. There were then two well-executed run outs by Bertie and Reilly, before Alex M took a wicket in his last over to leave Norwich on 102 for 6 off their 25 overs which left them 25 runs short. This was an excellent way for the boys to finish their season with a classic team performance with nine of the boys all bowling well.

Squad: Reily B, Daniel D, Bertie C, Archie C, James M, Oliver W, Ben S, JC M, Alex M, Lennon T, Joe P
