Match reports w/c 4 March

U13A v Beeston Score: 18-15
The LPS@TH girls started a little apprehensively due to the ground being quite wet underfoot and slippery in places. After the first 10 minutes the girls were trailing by 2 goals to 3 and struggling to maintain possession and keep their marking tight due to the adverse conditions. Confidence grew in the second quarter and they found their form a little more, taking the score to 8-10, but still in their opponent’s favour.
With some tactical centre pass discussion at half time, the girls came into their own with some great passing, defending, shooting and interception taking the score to 13 all with just 10 minutes to go. They were beginning to believe in themselves. This surge of positive and determined play continued, leading to a final score of 18-15 in the home team’s favour!
It was a case of the girls getting better and better as the game unfolded. They are all becoming more tactically aware and proved the golden rule: work hard, play hard! Another great day at the office, girls – well done!

U13B v Beeston Score: 6-17
The girls faced a strong Beeston side and found themselves 2 -5 down after the first quarter. In the next 10 minutes they battled hard with some good interceptions, but were unable to close the gap, finishing 3-8 down at half time. With everything to play for, the girls continued to work hard with some fantastic interceptions from Sara and Alex preventing their opponents from getting into a rhythm. Unfortunately, this was not enough against the Beeston girls whose shooting was on point, extending their lead by 16 goals to 5. In the last quarter LPS@TH continued to put up a good fight with some solid defending from Tabby and Sophie, with Cara and Rebekah supporting well, and Sara, Maddie and Alex working tirelessly to get the ball into the attacking circle. In the last quarter LPS@TH only conceded two goals and scored two themselves. A positive end to the match.
Keeping possession and making sure of the pass is key to winning and this was not consistent enough on this occasion. It was a tough one for the girls, but there was a definite improvement by the sound of the final whistle.

Team: Maddie B, Alex G, Rebekah H, Sara B, Cara F, Tabby A, Sophie CR

U13C v Beeston Score: 5-20
Our U13C team had a tough match against a strong opposition. We showed moments of brilliance and good tenacity to keep going, however, we made too many mistakes with our basic passing and catching. Trinity, Harriet, Amelie and Sara had a busy afternoon in defence but worked hard to try and keep the ball from two very good shooters. Millie, Marianna and Tuesday moved well at times in the mid court and fed the ball to our shooters, Ellie and Abbie, who found form towards the end of the game. More work is needed on our possession game going forwards. POM voted for by the opposition was Tuesday.
Well done, girls.

Team: Trinity B, Harriet D, Amelie T, Sara O, Millie J, Marianna L, Tuesday P, Ella B, Abbie A
