U11B v Beeston Hall score 5 – 2
The U11 B team played some of their best hockey we have seen them play this season and won their match convincingly with a score of 5-2. They passed the ball around really well and worked the ball all the way down the pitch to score some great goals. Grace H-K scored 4 excellent goals and Evie W scored 1. At the other end of the pitch Zinhle N made some great saves and Emily S-U, having stepped into defence, had a great game making some brilliant tackles – as a result Beeston Hall struggled to even get into the D! Consequently Emily was chosen as Player of the Match. Well done girls a great result.
U11C v Beeston Hall score 2-1
The last match of the season for the U11s will certainly be one to remember with every girl going all out from the very beginning to collectively produce the best hockey they’ve played this term. It was a very even contest between the two sides, both showing great tenacity and endeavour throughout, until the final whistle.
The LPS@TH girls took the lead with Cara F, Mariana L and Ella B putting pressure on the away team, and it was Mariana who managed to score, giving the girls their first goal. For the rest of the first half, the home team dominated the play with Cara working tirelessly to feed the ball into her forwards and Amelie T and Ella always coming back to help when defending. Unfortunately, shortly before the end of the first half, and against the run of play, Beeston Hall intercepted the ball from the edge of the circle, dribbled in and scored to make it 1-1 at half time.
The girls kept their composure in the second half with some good defending from Emily B, Zoe S and Harriet D who was consistently badgering her opponent until she took possession of the ball. It was Georgia Z’s first time in goal for the School team and she did herself proud by making some good saves at crucial times. About five minutes into the second half, the LPS@TH girls broke through, and it was Amelie, through sheer perseverance, who manged to score the winning goal.
Every girl played their part today and they all came together as a cohesive unit. These girls have really come on this term and are becoming more confident in their ability, and moreover, adopting a ‘can do’ approach. It was music to the coach’s ears to hear them say at half time: ‘Please don’t take me off!’ What a lovely way to end the season. Brilliant effort, girls – you were awesome!

LPS@TH host annual U13 Indoor Hockey Tournament
It was fantastic to see such a high standard of hockey being played by the eight schools that attended our annual Indoor Hockey Tournament.
Our LPS@TH team knew they were in for a tough afternoon in a strong league, and the girls came out fighting in their first match, narrowly losing to South Lee from a strong short corner. Our second game was not our finest, with a lack of determination against a very strong Gresham’s side, where we left our defence exposed to some super finishing by our opponents. Our best game of the tournament came in our final league game against the eventual winners, Norwich School. Our girls showed they can compete and looked more hungry for every ball, with our goal keeper Grace D making some superb saves once again, and only conceding one goal was an achievement in this match. That meant we were playing off for 7th place against Glebe House, and again we played some good hockey and thoroughly deserved a goal (at last), slotted home nicely by Holly E, to clinch that 7th place spot.
We then watched some excellent final games, with Gresham’s ending up as Bronze medalists against Beeston Hall, and Norwich School beating Norwich High School for Girls 2-0 in the final.
Very well done to the players, who all played with wonderful spirit and collaboration. Mr Iain Martin did a fine job as umpire for the afternoon, and Mr Andy Forsey and Laura W were in control with the scoring, timing, and the all important supply of refreshments! A great event to end our competitive hockey season.
