Year 1 growing digital skills

The children in Year 1 have been using a lot of digital technology this week. We’ve combined our topic on ‘Growing Plants’ with using computers and tablets.

The children have been busy learning how to use word processing software. They have learnt how to capitalise, use punctuation and start a new line. They have also learnt how to save their files. They are becoming much quicker at finding the letter keys they need!

To go with this, the children have also been developing their mouse skills by using a digital paint programme. They have explored the tools available to them and used these to draw and label a picture of a plant.

We have also been out and about with our tablets. We have been growing a range of seeds and we have used the iPads to help us record how they plants are doing.

We have had lots of fun and at the same time worked on our digital skills. What will we be up to next week?
