In the final week of term a whole host of festive activities got us into the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Lunch & Jumper Day

Thank you to our amazing catering team for a delicious Christmas Lunch. Everyone looked very cheerful in their Christmas Jumpers.

PTFA Children’s Festive Fayre

The sound of laughter and festive music could be heard drifting from the Sports Hall during the PTFA’s Children’s Festive Fayre. Wearing their colourful Christmas jumpers, the Prep School pupils did a wonderful job of running the many creative games and stalls. Tombola prizes, festive face-painting, delicious treats and Christmas craft activities were also on offer. It was lovely to see children from Early Years, Pre-Prep and Prep enjoying the event together and certainly getting into the festive spirit.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Fayre, and the parents, staff and children who made it such a success.

Early Years Christmas Party

We enjoyed fun parties in our classrooms in the Early Years. The children moved and grooved to some Christmas favourites, displaying some energetic and individual dance moves. Find the stocking, Musical Statues and Musical Bumps were played with varying degrees of focus.
The kitchen made us a wonderful selection of party treats which we all sat down to feast on, displaying our good manners and appreciation.
The highlight, of course, was our very special visitor, who had a fine beard and a kind voice. All the children were very excited to receive a parcel from Father Christmas. We all had a lovely afternoon as part of our exciting build up to Christmas.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas with your families and friends, from all the staff in Acorn and Oak.

Pre-Prep Pantomime visit & Christmas Party

The children in Pre-Prep had a wonderful time going to the panto – oh, yes they did! The children went to see ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at Gorleston Pavilion Theatre and were entertained by dazzling dancers, sensational singers, fantastic fairies and some fabulous frocks. There was plenty to join in with such as catching sweets and balls of dough and the children nearly blew the roof off when the ghost kept coming on to the stage!
Poppy said: “I loved the fairies, especially the Spring fairy because that’s when my birthday is.”
Vivaan said: “I loved everything, the story and even the fireworks they made me jump and hide behind Lilly’s chair!”
Fergus said: “I liked it when the man did a dance and Prince Harry found Princess Aurora.”
The fun didn’t stop there! After the pantomime the children returned to School for a party lunch which included everything you would expect at a party such as mini sausages, crisps and some sparkly cakes. The children continued the fun in their classroom by listening to Christmas stories or playing some party games.
Miracle Joy said: “I loved playing musical statues.”
We are sure the children will be telling you all about their visit to the Panto!

Boarders’ Christmas Party

The boarders were treated to a spectacular Christmas party, which took place in the Outer Hall with the backdrop of our wonderful Christmas tree. During the drinks reception, with a choice of red or white (squash!), carols were performed by our very own choir. This was a lovely way to start the evening, with ‘Jingle Bells’ being the favourite!
The boarders opened their gifts from the staff before enjoying a magnificent buffet of food. A superb magic show performed by Mr James Stubbs, Head of French, was an absolute treat, with the very appreciate audience asking: ‘How did he do that?’. After dessert, it was disco time in the Inner Hall, before retiring sleepily to the dorms. A big thank you to Miss Philippa Briggs, Director of Music, for organising the choir, Mr Stubbs for making us question what we just witnessed with our own eyes, and the whole catering team for all of the food. Also thanks to Mrs Marie Hood, Head of Sport; Mr Stuart Hood, Residential House Parent; Miss Olivia Williams, Games Coach, and our fantastic Gap Students.

Staff and Children go Bananas for Mr Stubbs!

Prep pupils and staff were treated to ‘The Great Banana’s Christmas Magic Show’ hosted by our very own Head of French, Mr Stubbs. Mr Banana had us all in stitches and sheer amazement with his jokes, tricks and pure magic! His lovely assistants including pupils, Cameron F, Leah C and staff, Mr Crossley and Miss Menegaz were also all magnificent with Cameron F even demonstrating magical skills himself.  Big thank you to Mr Stubbs for a wonderful and lively performance.
