U13 vs Glebe House    Score 6-2
Our U13 girls faced Glebe House and were slow off the mark to get into the match. We showed determination from the start to win the ball but gave away possession far too easily, and our break over half term showed. Glebe House scored first, against the run of play, and it took us a while to convert our chances but Milly H-K finally scored before half time to make it 1-1 at half time. A firm half-time team talk seemed to do the trick, as the girls were much more positive and played some great hockey. Summer H was very effective on the left and Alice S and Beatrice C developed in confidence and won the ball well in defence. Grace D made some vital saves when called upon. Izzy looked dangerous on the attack and we were rewarded with a goal flurry, with Milly and Summer both scoring their hat-tricks.
Well done girls on your first victory of the season. With more play like your second half performance, I am sure more wins will follow.
Thank you to Mr Crossley for his encouragement from the sidelines and for assisting Mr Forsey with teas!

U10 v Glebe House School    Score 7-0
Every Year 5 girl took part in this fixture against Glebe House School. The 15 girls were divided into two equal ability teams; Team 1 playing in the first half and team 2, the second.
The Langley girls dominated from the start with some excellent attacking play from Emily S-U, Alice H and Rachel H, with Grace H-K providing them with an array of strong passes into the D, one of which Emily managed to get her stick onto and produce an exceptional goal which their goalkeeper had very little chance of saving. Two other goals followed shortly after, one from Rachel which was struck with great force hitting the back of the goal, closely followed by a third from Grace whose determination and competitiveness is a force to be reckoned with. Although the Langley defence weren’t under any real pressure today, Evie G, Lana K and Sophie C all played their part in the first half, keeping their opposition at bay and Zinhle N too made a couple of very good saves to maintain the score of 3–0 at half time.
With a completely new team for the second half, the girls knew they had to keep the pressure on and a minute into the game Millie P did not disappoint and dribbled her way through the defence scoring her first of three goals single-handedly! Once again, the Langley forwards were in control, with some tenacious play from Evie W and Millie, ably supported by Emily B and Rachel S. Evie’s persistence led to a further goal for the team closely followed by a lovely pass from Emily B to Millie P who slotted the team’s sixth goal. Both Izzy M and Georgia Z played well in defence and Sophia P once again showed that she is becoming quite a competent little goal keeper, making a few good saves. The final goal of the match came from Millie, making it a hat-trick for her and a final score of 7–0.
Today’s match was a superb overall team effort and high hopes for the future. Watch this space!
A special mention must also be made to the Glebe goalkeeper today who made some incredible saves, denying the Langley girls a score well into double figures.
